ReplyI think it is good to see you writing a blog, Matt. (I have kind of backed off of writing mine, although I haven't made ending it official as I might want to do other things than politics with it.) I am not so opposed to this tax as I am the coming Trash Tax. I hope you hit them hard on that one.

Sanchez:
"How could a cell phone program start under Reagan? Do tell!"
"Lifeline is a federal program created by the Reagan era Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1984."

You know, it's not that hard to do research with this thing called the Internet.

I don't need government to manage illegal signs, at least not in my neighborhood. When a sign goes up it comes down soon after I see it.

ReplyWhy not make the fine for posting illegal signs $1,000.00? Why not $1,000.000.000? It could be $5,000,000,000,000,000, but unless they enforce the law the signs will be posted no matter what the fine. Let's try keeping the fine where it is and actually enforcing the law. (Our local elected officials are mostly out of touch.)

ReplyI believe they are removing the fish ladders. I know they removed the one at Simkins dam further down river. I don't know the reason why though off the top of my head. I do know that some people are concerned that removing the fish ladders is causing sediment problems down river. The contractors are just dumping the sediment from the dam into the river and it makes the river very shallow and the concern is the fish won't be able to survive in those types of waters. I was working on a report about it for the Arbutus Patch just when they did away with paid reporters (other then editors). I had to drop the story for lack of time. It is still out there for anyone who wants it.

p.s. And our current possesion laws only fuel the illegal drug trade. Just because it is not criminal to carry a certain amount of weed any longer, it still has to be bought from some drug dealer who probably got the shipment from someone down south (Mexico, etc., ) that may have endagered some DEA agent.

ReplyMaryland should just make weed legal from top to bottom. This medical bill sounds pretty complicated. Is Johns Hopkins really going to grow pot? I don't think so. The Feds should make it legal and then each state can go like Colorado or not. I personally would rather see people smoking pot then drinking so much. People who drink too much booze can cause serious problems. People who smoke too much weed generally fall asleep.
