I'm a bleeding heart liberal, all about helping people but this law goes a tad too far.
This law hurts legal, taxpaying US citizens, in an attempt to benefit another class. An American student takes out a loan to cover their out-of-state tuition for CCBC totaling $18k for two years. An out-of-state student of undocumented parents gets to take out a loan for CCBC totaling $6k for two years. Now after they both receive jobs, the American student has a greater financial burden of paying Sallie Mae the $12k MORE in student loans + interest she had to take out unlike her undocumented friend. How is this fair? Why are we punishing our own citizens?
If people want to implement something to encourage/incentivize students of illegals to continue their education it should not jeopardize the financial stability of American students who choose to go to out-of-state CC.
